This holiday is usually celebrated on March 17. St.Patrick's Day was originally a religious holiday. This holiday became a public holiday in 1903 by the Money Bank. St.Patrick's Day celebrates Saint Patrick who was one of the patron saints of Ireland. The Irish celebrate St.Patrick's Day by attending parades, wearing shamrocks, wearing green and drinking alcohol. Some of the drinks are Guinness, Irish Whiskey and Irish Cream. We celebrate this holiday here in Canada because we have a population of Irish descent and many Christians as well.

In my opinion, I think that St.Patrick's Day is a great holiday for everyone. People get to relax and have fun with their family and friends. They also get to dress in green and go to parades. People also get to eat Irish food. St.Patrick's Day is not all about celebrating and enjoying ourselves, it also has a lot of different myths and superstitions about it. There are a lot of people who believe in myths and this is why I think that St.Patrick's Day is a great holiday to celebrate.

These are the websites from where I got my information from:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Patrick
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Patrick's_Day
http://saintpaddysday.com/history/stpatricksday/hist-other1.shtml

Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras means "Fat Tuesday" and is celebrated by the Catholics. Mardi Gras is the last day for Catholics to eat as much as they can before Ash Wednesday. They fast for 40 days. Mardi Gras is celebrated around the world but mostly celebrated in New Orleans. Thousands of people go to New Orleans to attend the various of festivities taking place. Mardi Gras is celebrated before Ash Wednesday. This year, Mardi Gras is celebrated on February.24,2009. Mardi Gras is celebrated in a lot of ways. The main event is the Mardi Gras parade. Mardi Gras is also celebrated by festivals, carnivals and ceremonies.

In my opinion, I think that Mardi Gras is a strange holiday. People eat as much as they can before Ash Wednesday. I don't know anyone who can eat a lot of food on one day and not get sick. Also, eating a lot of food can harm your health. I also think that Mardi Gras is a strange holiday because eating a lot of food on one day doesn't mean that you will be able to survive for 40 days. But other than that, it would be fun to eat a lot of food on one day and go to the parades and ceremonies.

These are the websites from where I got my information from:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mardi_Gras

http://www.infoplease.com/spot/mardigras1.html

http://www.occasions365.com/holidays/mardi-gras/

Canada defeats Sweden and wins 5 straight gold medals at the WJHC

Canada got their 5th straight gold medal at the World Junior Hockey Championship after defeating Sweden 5 to 1 on Monday January 5,2009. The attendance for the game was 20,380 which was a single game record for the World Junior Hockey Championship.

In my opinion I think that it was a good thing that Canada earned and got the gold medals for 5 years in a row. That is amazing. I also think that it was very good that Stephen Harper attended the game. He came to Team Canada's practice before the game and told them that everyone in Canada was with them and they should try very hard to win the game. In my opinion I think that Team Canada tries very hard at the World Juniors and that's why they have earned the gold medal for 5 years in a row. In my opinion I think that Team Canada is a great team and I think that they will keep on winning the gold medals at the World Junior Hockey Championship.

To read the article click here.

On My Birthday-August 24

On my birthday there were 5 professional players born.

Reginald Wayne Miller-He was born on August 24,1965. It is always celebrated on the 11th day of the 11th month(Nov 11). Remembrance Day started when the World War 1 ended on Nov.11,1918. King George V dedicated this day to remember all of the members of the armed forces who died at the war. We celebrate Remembrance Day because we want to remember all of the one hundred thousand people who died at the war to save our lives. We celebrate Remembrance Day on November 11 by we pause for two minutes to remember all of the members at the war. We also attend ceremonies.

Personally I think that Remembrance Day is a great holiday to celebrate. When we celebrate Remembrance Day, we remember all of the members of the armed forces that lost their lives in order to save our homes and our lives. Also without the sacrifices of the people at war, we would probably be living a different life right now. We are living a peaceful life thanks to the people who fought for us. Remembrance Day is a great holiday to celebrate because without Remembrance Day, we would not remember all of the people who died to save our lives.

These are the websites from where I got my information from:
1.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remembrance_Day
2.http://www.vac-acc.gc.ca/remembers/sub.cfm?source=history/other/remember

China Landslides leaves 41 missing and 26 dead

The landslides in southwestern China has left 41 people missing and 26 people dead. That's according to the state media. Chuxiong city in Yunnan province was hit the most by this landslide. In Chuxiong city, there were 20 deaths and 41 people were missing. Chuxiong city has been hit by heavy rain for the past days. Lincang city reported 2 deaths and Kunming, the capital of Yunnan reported 4 deaths. The heavy rain that has caused these landslides have affected more than 410,000 people. Also, 2300 houses have been damaged and another 1000 have been destroyed. So far, 5 disaster relief teams are at work and 25,000 people have been sent to safe places. Power supply and transportation has also been affected by the landslides.

In my opinion, I think that China should have gotten more disaster relief teams. If China had more disaster relief teams, then less people would have been killed and less people would be missing. Also, China should have a safety plan if another landslide hits China. If China has a plan for the next landslide, then everyone will know what to do and where to go for safety. In my opinion, I think China should give money to the people who lost their house when the landslide struck China.

This is the website from where I read the article:

http://www.thenews.com.pk/updates.asp?id=59173

Web Hunt-Lebron James

1. Thanksgiving in Canada is celebrated on the second Monday of October. It is close to the harvest season. Thanksgiving started in 1578 when Martin Frobisher had a ceremony to give thanks for surviving the long journey. Cyber Bullying is dangerous because if the person tells the kid that they should stop talking to each other because the person doesn't like the kid, then the kid could get sad and commit suicide.
